FVHD COVID DATA
FVHD DATA
The Farmington Valley Health District uses data gathered from testing results of our communities to ascertain the prevalence of COVID 19 amongst our population. Our epidemiologist produces weekly updates to track the impact on our district.
It is important to remember the number of confirmed cases in the Farmington Valley is not a precise indication of the actual number of cases of COVID – 19 due delays in reporting from the testing site to the state health department.
Through detailed contact tracing interviews, we are able to determine the majority of source exposures are occurring in the following manner:
Social gatherings
Travel related
Occupational exposures
Healthcare acquired
Unknown
Household spread is common. 71 households in last two weeks have 2 or more positive members.
"How We Feel" App
What is How We Feel?
How We Feel lets You self-report your age, sex, ZIP code, and any health symptoms you experience. It only takes 30 seconds!
Aggregate data is securely shared with select scientists, doctors and public health professionals who are actively working to stop the spread of COVID-19. The app doesn't ask you to sign in or share your name, phone number or email address.
Why should I use the app?
We’re all looking for something we can do to stop the spread of the virus. Health professionals need insight into areas that aren’t yet showing significant spikes in positive COVID-19 tests but could be on the edge of an outbreak. This data is especially important because there's a worldwide shortage of testing.

Once the samples (swabs) are collected from an individual, most are sent to a lab to have the test run, unless the facility is able to run the test themselves. The majority of acute care hospitals in the state have been approved for on-site COVID-19 testing. The test can take several days, depending on the lab and the amount of tests that are pending. Nobody should arrive at any of the Lab facilities requesting to be tested, nor should individuals contact the labs asking for testing.

What is contact tracing?
In public health, contact tracing is the process of identification of persons who may have come into contact with a COVID 19 infected person and subsequent collection of further information about these contacts. This process is the only way to assist with the reopening of society to allow us to identify infected individuals and isolate them and then quarantine, monitor and test those who have had a potential exposure to the COVID 19 virus.
ContaCT is Connecticut’s statewide voluntary and confidential software system for monitoring the health and wellbeing of people affected by COVID-19. ContaCT will aid Connecticut’s efforts to rapidly scale up our contact tracing efforts and infrastructure to help combat COVID-19 and enable the safe re-opening of the state. The information collected through ContaCT will be used to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in your community.
ContaCT automates some steps in the contact tracing process, while maintaining safe handling of your information. For those who choose to participate, surveys will be sent by email or text message daily to those who have tested positive for COVID-19 (also known as cases) and persons identified who were exposed and who may be at risk of developing COVID-19 (also known as contacts).
Survey messages from ContaCT will be sent from [email protected]; text messages will be sent from 855-670-0299. We share this information with you to provide some reassurance these messages are legitimate. If you decide not to participate, you should expect a daily phone call to achieve similar monitoring to what the ContaCT system can provide.
The survey collects basic information on symptoms, the ability to self-isolate, and assesses unmet needs (such as access to food, housing, healthcare, etc.), to connect people who are being asked to isolate with the resources needed to be successful. All information collected will remain confidential, and contacts who are identified will not be given information on cases (such as the person who may have exposed them).
If you test positive for COVID-19 and are contacted by our public health professionals by email, phone or text asking you to fill out a questionnaire, please do so. This is our best chance to help protect our families, friends, co-workers, and broader communities. Please stay home for at least 10 days after your symptoms begin; you should be fever-free for 3 days and start to feel better before leaving your home. If you do not have any symptoms, you should stay home for 10 days after you were tested for COVID-19.
*******If you are contacted by our public health professionals by email, phone or text asking you to fill out a questionnaire as a contact of someone who has tested positive, please do so. Please also take the advice seriously and stay at home for 14 days after the date you were exposed. It is one way you can continue to do your part and help us fight COVID-19.
The Farmington Valley Health District uses data gathered from testing results of our communities to ascertain the prevalence of COVID 19 amongst our population. Our epidemiologist produces weekly updates to track the impact on our district.

Yale Health Hospitals are drive up only, no walk ups are allowed at Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, or Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. For Yale New Haven Hospital, walk ups may be allowed. Individuals with no transportation should ask about this when setting up an appointment.
